As Chairperson of Rural Development Centre Nepal (RDC Nepal), I am pleased to share that under the Reducing Child Labor (RCL) Project, our organization has provided education support materials to 280 children in Gujara Municipality. This support included school bags, exercise copies, and water bottles, carefully distributed to children from vulnerable and labor-prone households.
Education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of child labor. In communities where poverty limits access to basic school supplies, children are often pushed toward labor instead of learning. Through this intervention, RDC Nepal aims to remove one of the key barriers that prevents children from attending and continuing school. When children are equipped with essential learning materials, they gain confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging in the classroom.

The RCL Project is designed not only to reduce child labor but also to promote school retention and regular attendance. By supporting children at the start of the academic journey, we help families ease financial pressure while reinforcing the importance of education over child labor. This initiative complements our broader efforts in child protection, community awareness, and coordination with local governments and schools.
I would like to acknowledge the cooperation of Gujara Municipality, school authorities, parents, and community stakeholders, whose support has been instrumental in making this initiative successful. Their shared commitment strengthens our collective mission to safeguard children’s rights.
RDC Nepal remains committed to ensuring that every child grows up in a safe environment with access to quality education. We believe that sustained investment in children today will lead to a more educated, skilled, and prosperous society tomorrow. Together, we can ensure that children stay in school—not at work—and build a future free from child labor.
