Bishwanath Sah is a permanent resident of Garuda Municipality‑8, Birta Tole. Until illness changed everything, he lived a simple but hardworking life with his small family, his wife and their son. What little they had was built through honesty, perseverance, and a small grocery shop that stood at the heart of their daily survival.
Life took a painful turn when Bishwanath was diagnosed with a serious illness that required continuous treatment at Bharatpur Cancer Hospital. The diagnosis brought fear, uncertainty, and an overwhelming financial burden. With no property except their homestead land, the family’s only source of income was the small grocery shop. Unfortunately, its limited earnings were barely enough to meet daily household expenses let alone cover the rising cost of medical treatment.
As medical visits became more frequent, the shop shelves slowly emptied. Daily expenses began to feel unbearable. Bishwanath often lay awake at night, worried not only about his health, but about the future of his family. Providing food, education for his son, and medical care felt increasingly out of reach. At his most vulnerable moment, he searched desperately for a chance any investment, support, or opportunity that could help him stand again.
Recognizing his hardship, RDC Nepal, with the support of WVI‑Nepal, stepped in to support Bishwanath and his family. Through this assistance, his grocery shop was strengthened with essential items such as edible oil, potatoes, onions, eggs, and other daily necessities. In addition, RDC Nepal provided financial support of NPR 16,000 on two occasions.

This support became a turning point.
With the financial assistance, Bishwanath was able to restock his shop, attract more customers, and stabilize his struggling business. Gradually, income began to flow again. The shop once more became a steady source of livelihood helping the family manage daily expenses and continue his life‑saving medical treatment.
Today, despite the ongoing challenges of his illness, Bishwanath’s condition remains stable under continuous medical care. More importantly, his spirit has been renewed. The stress that once overwhelmed his family has eased, replaced by a sense of security, dignity, and hope. Bishwanath now manages his shop with determination, drawing strength from the support that helped him regain control over his life.
While the journey ahead remains uncertain, Bishwanath Sah looks forward with resilience. The assistance from RDC Nepal did more than support a business it restored hope to a family that feared losing everything. With continued care and potential future support, Bishwanath dreams of expanding his shop further and living a more stable, comfortable life with his loved ones.
For Bishwanath and his family, this support was not just financial help. It was a lifeline and a reason to believe in tomorrow.
