Anita Majhi, a 29-year-old woman from Chandrapur Municipality Ward-2 (Khushwar Tole), lives with her husband and three daughters aged 14, 6, and 2 years. She is a right holder of the GARVA Project and has received six she-goats as income-generating support. Coming from a financially vulnerable background, her family faces daily challenges in meeting their basic needs. The primary source of income is her husband’s irregular daily wage labor, which is insufficient to sustain the household. Due to having a two-year-old child, Anita is unable to engage in regular income-generating activities, although she occasionally sells vegetables from her kitchen garden to support the family.

Despite these efforts, the family’s income remains inadequate. However, Anita continues to prioritize her children’s education and ensures they attend school, recognizing its importance for their future. About a month ago, her husband migrated to India for employment, which further increased the family’s vulnerability. Since then, they have been experiencing severe food shortages, often leading to stress and uncertainty. At times, Anita is forced to borrow money from neighbors to buy food, which adds an additional financial burden due to repayment with interest.
In this difficult situation, the Ramadan Food Pack support which has been provided on 10 March 2026, has been extremely helpful for Anita and her family. The assistance provided essential food items such as rice, lentils, salt, sugar, grams and cooking oil, ensuring food security for a certain period and reduced their immediate financial burden. Anita shared that such support programs are crucial for families like hers, as they help them manage during times of hardship and ensure that they have enough food for at least two months.

She expressed her gratitude towards RDC Nepal & IR Nepal and emphasized the importance of continuing such initiatives to support vulnerable households in sustaining their daily lives.
