Success Story on Children’s engaged in child labor to School Admission
On new admission session 2082, Under technical support of Reducing Child Labor project supported by Kindernothilfe Germany and Rural Development Centre, Nepal after coordination with Municipal Child Rights Committee, Education and Youth Section, Ward Child Rights Committee, Child Clubs Members, Youth Groups and other intellectuals an admission campaign was started on first week of Baishakh 2082. In the campaign, all 32 schools were engaged to enroll out of school children’s, children’s engaged in child labors especially from Brick kiln and agricultural field work. RCL Project staffs and CRC members has reached door to door and community gathering to follow-up the parents and enrolled their children’s to formal education. In the meantime, about 13000 children’s has been enrolled in 2082 session of admission out of which 481 students from various brick kilns, wholesaler grocery shops, hotels and other service providers are enrolled to nearby schools. Now all those students are continuous going to schools.
Furthermore, a local resident from Gujara-8, Jogauliya Mr. Gajendra Majhi – 45 yrs – a daily wages worker in brick kiln in Gautam Ita Udhyaog has 13 yrs daughter Rabina Majhi was also engaged in child labor. Local Field Supervisor visited his house and oriented about education and entitlements provided by government and school. Now Mr. Gajendra Majhi has enrolled her daughter in class 5 in Shree Rajdevi Primary school Jogauliya. Mr. Gajendra Says- “ I am a daily wages worker in brick kiln, I do not show interest in educating my children earlier, as she also helps in preparing bricks in brick kiln. After talk with Kamlesh Ji, I feel that I have to educate my children’s so that they would not live hard life as I and living. Now I have enrolled my daughter to schools. I will work hard to educate my daughter. Thank you to RDC Staffs for orienting me.”
As Education Unit and school teachers were directly engaged in new admission campaign, Education Unit Chief Mr. Shiv Mangal Sah say “Every year we visit door to door for admission campaign and enroll new students but after few months, students do not continue their schools, RDC Nepal is supporting us via visiting parents door to door and visiting every brick kiln in Gujara Municipality. We are hopeful that students will continue their schools and we thanks RDC Nepal for supporting us to maintain learning environment at schools.”

Hence, RCL Project staffs has been in close coordination with Education Unit, Child Rights Committee, Local Government action committee, Youth Groups and Parents Groups to continue their schools to minimize child labors.
