Child Rights Discussion in Gujara Municipality Led by Child Club

Under the Reducing Child Labor (RCL) Project implemented by Rural Development Centre Nepal (RDC Nepal), child clubs of Gujara Municipality actively organized quiz competitions and child rights discussions as part of ongoing efforts to promote child participation and awareness on child protection issues. These activities created a safe and inclusive platform for children to learn, express their views, and strengthen their understanding of their rights and responsibilities.

The quiz competition focused on key themes such as child rights, education, child labor, child protection laws, and the role of families and local governments. Through interactive and engaging questions, children enhanced their knowledge while building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. The competitive yet friendly environment encouraged active participation from both boys and girls, fostering equal involvement and mutual respect.

In addition, child rights discussion sessions allowed children to openly share their experiences, challenges, and concerns related to education, child labor, and safety within their communities. Facilitated by child club leaders with support from RDC Nepal, these discussions emphasized the importance of staying in school, reporting child labor, and seeking support from responsible authorities. Children also learned about existing mechanisms such as Ward Child Rights Committees (WCRC) and Municipal Child Rights Committees (MCRC), strengthening their awareness of local protection systems.

These activities played a crucial role in empowering children as change agents within their families and communities. By increasing knowledge and encouraging dialogue, the program helped children become more confident in advocating for their rights and supporting peers at risk of child labor.

Overall, the quiz competition and child rights discussions reinforced the RCL Project’s goal of minimizing child labor and promoting continued education. The initiative demonstrated that meaningful child participation not only enhances awareness but also contributes to sustainable community-led child protection and rights-based development in Gujara Municipality.
