Rautahat district a part of Madhesh province situated in mid southern part of the Terai region is one of the seventy-seven districts of Nepal. The district headquarter, covers an area of 1,126 km² with total households of 106,652 and population is 686,722. This district has a total of 16 municipalities and 2 rural municipalities in new Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Among other districts, Rautahat has the largest percent (20%) of Muslims in Nepal. 33.4% people are living under poverty. 41.7% people are literate among them 32% are women and 51% are men. The district lies in vulnerable situation.
Rural Development Centre (RDC) Nepal is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making organization established in June 2002 with its headquarter in Rautahat District of Nepal.
Since then, RDC is heavily engaged in humanitarian assistance, community development, conservation of natural resources, and environmental protection mainly in the Terai and hill region of Nepal through the dozens of humanitarian and long term development projects reaching out to the children, adolescent boys and girls, youth, women, land poor, urban poor, and people living with disabilities, HIV & AIDS, conflict and disaster survivors from most poor, historically marginalized communities such as Dalits and Muslims, indigenous communities and other underprivileged groups.
Throughout its journey, RDC Nepal has been recognized by the Government of Nepal, Donor Communities, UN Agencies, many International Relief and Development Agencies for its achievements in transforming the society, for its inclusive governance structure, result oriented development interventions and humanitarian assistance, accountable and responsible program delivery, which RDC considers its greater strength to take lead in the sector across the country.
Rural Development Centre Nepal has implemented Inclusive Early Grade Learning Project which is a part of Equity and Inclusive in Education Program started from October 2022 to March 2023 with coordination and collaboration of 4 Municipalities later it was extended to 4 more municipalities. These are Rajpur, Baudhimai, Maulapur and Katahariya Municipality and from December 2020 newly implemented palikas are Paroha, Ishnath, Gaur and Durga Bhagwati. The program is supported by UNICEF and World Education Inc. The main motive of the program is to capacitate schools and teachers so that all working schools can provide quality early grade education (Grades 1-3) especially for the most disadvantaged children including those with disabilities.
The organization worked together to share and to achieve vision, mission and goal in all aspects through different Project management activities which directly benefited community peoples and newly formed local government. Similarly, the organization shared its policies, norms, and values to build good rapport and effective relationship with community level stakeholders and beneficiaries.
The Objective of the Project is:-
· To Increase access of Children in the Community School
· To Increase the Participation of the Children in the learning activities
· To Bring the learning outcome of the Children in learning.
Besides, RDC Nepal committed and dedicated for the holistic development of the children and its families by mobilizing the community to fulfill their basic needs and rights through different structures Basic Education, Early Childhood Care and Development, School Health and Nutrition, Adolescent Development as per situation analysis and based on baseline survey findings and recommendation in future. During this reporting period, the organization accomplished most of activities which mentioned below as a result.
