Project Objective:
· To contribute to ending hunger ensuring children and their families have access to safe and nutritious food all year around, Children are protected from childhood illnesses and diseases
· To contribute to ending extreme poverty and enabling poorest households to consistently grow their incomes at a rate higher than the national average.
· Build resilience of people and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.
Key Achievements:
· The project supported 101 ultra-poor HHs with Agri inputs, business recovery support to 354 HHs and kitchen gardening to 516 PLWs, where the project focused on holistic development of the HHs to uplift the HHs from below the poverty line. Such support increased access of families to quality inputs including skills, knowledge and equipment to increase production. Recovery business improved and established family income capability and increased the capacity of families particularly women, PWD and ethnic minorities on financial management.
· Eighty-two women attended three-month market literacy classes. Ten women from ultra-poor households received training in level-2 tailoring vocational skills, while nine women were trained in bangle making skills.
· NRL and PCESP projects reached 50,211 people including 36,304 Children through different core project models i.e. PD Hearth, Ultra Poor Graduation (UPG), and Citizen Voice in Action (CVA) achieve the project goal i.e. “Children are well nourished."
· 13480 PLWs enhanced their knowledge and skills in health, nutrition, and nutrition-sensitive agriculture through Health Mother Group (HMG) meetings. 3132 Children were enrolled in PD Hearth sessions to rehabilitate from malnutrition at the community level as a result 2382 children gained adequate weight within 3 months. This has led to achieving project outcomes i.e. “Improved maternal and child nutrition”.
· Small grant supported to six health facilities and capacity building of health workers and CVA group mobilization has enhanced maternal, child health, and nutrition (MCHN) services at twelve health facilities and Strengthened accountability for basic health and nutrition services in the community.
· 72 community hand pumps including 4 at public health facilities were installed. Increased knowledge and access to water, sanitation, and hygiene of community especially PLWs and under 5 children. These contributed to protect Children from childhood illness, especially from diarrhea and pneumonia.
